April 29 marked the long-awaited reopening of the Henry Luce III Center on our new fourth floor. After more than two years, our permanent collection is on view again! It’s not all old favorites up there though—we have a brand new Center for Women’s History and a state-of-the-art Gallery of Tiffany Lamps that will blow you away. What better way to get acquainted with more than 700 historic objects than by becoming a History Detective who can answer questions, solve puzzles, and discover amazing new things about American history! That’s why we’re so excited to introduce our new History Detective Briefcases.
So what’s inside these briefcases? Open one up, and you’ll find cards that will send you all around the floor to different fascinating artworks and objects where the whole family can do activities, write, draw, and play games. Each briefcase comes with some special History Detective goodies, like binoculars. Best of all—it’s free with Museum Admission! All you have to do is borrow a briefcase (check it out with a photo ID) and return it when you’re done investigating. You can even go back for a second briefcase and end up with a whole new set of activity cards! There’s so much to discover. Check out the picture below to see a some of its contents.
Take a look at some History Detectives in action and stop by to borrow a History Detective Briefcase on your next weekend visit to the new Luce Center. You can pick one up on the fourth floor.
