Hello Little New-Yorkers! Follow along with this post to create your very own friendship bracelets, and don’t forget to join us live every Tuesday and Friday at 3:30 pm when we sing a special Little New-Yorkers hello song, do silly stretches and exercises, and read a storybook — all from the comfort of your home!
This month we are celebrating Women’s History Month. We will be featuring bold and brilliant women of the past and present who refused to be silenced. We will learn their stories of perseverance and connect to their spirit of benevolence.
This week, we are inspired by the book Two Friends written by Dean Robbins and illustrated by Sean Qualls and Selina Alko. Susan B. Anthony, the famed suffragist, and Frederick Douglass, the famed abolitionist, had an unlikely friendship. They connected through their mutual struggles fighting to win rights for women and African Americans. Today, create your own symbol of friendship with starry and magical friendship bracelets!

- Something to color with: markers, pastels, colored pencils, crayons or a combination!
* A note on supplies: If you don’t have exactly the supplies listed, improvise! These projects are designed to be versatile, so feel free to use whatever materials and tools you have at home. And if your final product looks different than what you see here, that’s wonderful!
STEP 1: Color Your Friendship Bracelets
To start, use markers, colored pencils, or crayons to color your friendship bracelets. One will be for you and the others for your friends! Think about who you would like to share your bracelets with. Maybe it is your mom or dad or even a classmate. Try using colors your friend would love and that you love too!
STEP 2: Cut out Friendship Bracelets
Now it is time to cut out the bracelets! Carefully cut along the black lines around your friendship bracelets (be sure to only cut the outside edges). Once completed, you will have three pieces.
STEP 3: Tape Friendship Bracelet onto wrists
Now you will need tape and maybe a helping hand. Choose which friendship bracelet you want to wear. Have a friend or grown up wrap your friendship bracelet around your wrist and tape it around the edge.
STEP 5: Share your Friendship Bracelets!
Remember, you have two more friendship bracelets! Share them with people who are extra special to you.
Thanks for following along. We hope to see you at Little New-Yorkers each Tuesday and Friday at 3:30 pm!
